The story behind the Artwork
An Urban Narrative of Presence and Absence Traces of Life No. 1 marks the beginning of a conceptual fine art series exploring human presence through quiet, anonymous urban spaces. The artwork captures an inviting riverside promenade flanked by historic and contemporary architecture, a stone-paved canal wall, and bicycles resting casually along the forged iron railing.
While no human figures or animals appear within the frame, human life is vividly felt everywhere. A window left slightly ajar, a small ‘For Rent’ sign in an apartment window, young trees lining the pavement, and bicycles parked along the water all whisper stories of daily routines, pauses, and moments in transit.
The Invisible Journey Without revealing it explicitly, a subtle narrative begins right here: a journey embarked upon by bicycle. From this peaceful quay, the path leads onward into the city—inviting the viewer to ponder where the journey will venture next.
