Season IX – Vapour is an original acrylic painting exploring the feeling of losing sight of the way forward — and the quiet reassurance of discovering that you are not lost.

Layers of muted grey, soft earthy tones and subtle touches of gold create a mist-filled forest where the landscape slowly reveals itself. At first, there is no obvious path. But as you look deeper into the painting, small glimpses of light begin to appear between the trees.

The painting is deliberately created with many layers and depth, allowing the mist to feel almost tangible and the hidden light to emerge gradually. Small touches of gold are embedded within the background, catching the eye only when you take the time to look closely.

Vapour is a painting about uncertainty, hope and the comfort of knowing that a way forward can exist even when you cannot see it yet.

Sometimes you do not need to see the whole way. You only need to find the light that shows you where to look next.

Description

Season IX – Vapour

Sometimes the way is there before you can see it.

Vapour is about those moments when you briefly lose your sense of direction — when everything seems blurred, unfamiliar or just slightly out of reach.

The forest disappears into layers of mist and muted light. There is no obvious path to follow. Yet, if you take your time and look closely, small glimpses of light begin to emerge between the trees.

For me, this is where the painting finds its hope.

The mist is not only something that hides. It also creates a sense of mystery — that magical space between what we can see and everything we cannot. How can something as simple as air change the way we see the world so completely? What is hidden just beyond our sight?

I wanted Vapour to hold that feeling of being momentarily unsure, while still feeling safe. You may not be able to see the whole way ahead, but that does not mean you are lost.

The painting is built through many layers, creating depth within the forest and allowing the light to appear gradually. Small touches of gold are hidden within the background, almost disappearing into the mist until you look closely enough to find them.

Perhaps that is the point.

You do not always need to see the whole way. Sometimes you only need to find the next glimpse of light.

Vapour is part of the Seasons series.
