Season VIII – Light Stays

Season VIII – Light Stays is an original acrylic painting inspired by the quiet transition into autumn, where the landscape becomes darker while light still remains.

The painting explores the relationship between darkness and light. Layers of warm brown, earthy tones and subtle greens create depth behind slender birch trees, while touches of yellow, ochre and orange allow the light to remain present within the forest.

The painting is deliberately focused on depth rather than botanical detail. Many thin layers of colour build the dark background, creating a sense of space and atmosphere that changes as you look into the painting.

Light Stays is a reflection on the light we find in darker seasons — in nature, in quiet moments, and within ourselves.

Description

Season VIII – Light Stays is an original acrylic painting about light, depth and the quiet arrival of autumn.

The painting depicts a birch forest where slender white trunks emerge from a deep, warm background of layered browns, earthy reds, ochres and muted greens. Small touches of brighter colour move through the foliage like fragments of light.

Much of the depth in the painting is created through numerous thin layers of individually mixed colours. Rather than focusing on accurately rendered leaves, the painting allows the forest to remain slightly abstract, giving the viewer space to look beyond the individual details and experience the atmosphere of the whole.

The darker tones are intentional. They create a contrast that allows the remaining light to become more visible — a reminder that light does not disappear simply because the season becomes darker.

Light Stays is part of the Seasons series, exploring nature, changing seasons and the quiet relationship between light, darkness and presence.

This 100 × 100 cm original artwork brings warmth, depth and a contemplative atmosphere into the home. It can work beautifully as a statement piece in a living room, hallway, office or other space where its layers and changing details can be experienced over time.
