The story behind the Artwork

A Story of Waiting, Change and New Beginnings

The Waiting Room explores something we all experience: waiting.

We wait for answers, for change, for opportunities and for the next chapter of our lives. Sometimes we choose to wait. At other times, we simply have no choice but to accept that something cannot happen yet.

While creating this drawing, I thought about how waiting is also present everywhere in nature. Seeds rest beneath the soil before they begin to grow. Winter holds the landscape still before spring returns. What appears to be a pause may, in fact, be part of a transformation already taking place.

The Waiting Room – A Place Between What Was and What Comes Next

The empty chair represents the familiar experience of being asked to sit and wait. A waiting room is neither the place we came from nor necessarily the place we are going. It is somewhere in between.

That space can feel frustrating, uncertain or quiet. But waiting can also give us time to observe, reflect and perhaps see something differently.

Sometimes a period of waiting eventually leads to an answer. Sometimes it leads to change. And sometimes it becomes the moment before we take an entirely new step in life.

Nature Is Waiting Too

Nature surrounds and slowly enters the structured room in the drawing.

It is a reminder that waiting does not necessarily mean that nothing is happening. Nature has its own rhythm. Growth can begin long before we are able to see it.

Perhaps the same is true for us.

Sometimes we have to accept the waiting.

And sometimes, while we wait, something has already begun to change.
