Ways of Seeing is an original acrylic painting from Bodil Greiner’s Seasons series, exploring perspective, attention and the way we choose to see the world around us. The contrast between shadow, monochrome tones and the light-filled colours of the forest creates a sense of depth, calm and quiet reflection.

With its natural palette, strong vertical lines and subtle human presence, the painting brings both atmosphere and meaning into a space. It works beautifully in a Nordic or contemporary interior, where it can become a quiet visual anchor in a living room, bedroom, hallway, office, meeting room or other professional setting.

Ways of Seeing invites you to pause and look a little deeper — offering a sense of calm and contemplation while leaving room for your own interpretation.

You are always welcome to contact me if you have any questions about the artwork. The artwork can be viewed in person by appointment.

Framing

For collectors who wish to add an elegant finishing touch, ‘Season XI – Ways of Seeing’ can be professionally framed to complement both contemporary and classic interior, for example in an oak frame.

I am happy to discuss framing options to ensure the artwork fits beautifully into your home and personal style.

Description

Season XI – Ways of Seeing

Where do you look when you enter a landscape?

Do you notice what is right in front of you — or do you allow your eyes to travel further?

Ways of Seeing is about perspective, attention and the quiet choices we make about what we notice.

Parts of the forest are painted almost entirely in black, white and shades of grey. In the centre, however, the landscape opens into light, green and warm colour.

Your eye may first settle on the trees in the foreground. But if you look beyond them, another space begins to appear. There is depth, light and colour waiting further inside.

And perhaps that is what the painting is really asking you to consider:

Where do you choose to look?

Sometimes we look into the shadows. Sometimes we notice only what is closest to us. And sometimes, when we allow ourselves to look further, we discover something that was there all along.

There is also a small figure standing in the shadows.

She is Vera.

Until now, Vera had existed only in my fineliner drawings. Here, she takes her first small step into my paintings. She is not the subject of Ways of Seeing. She is there to give the landscape another perspective — a human presence quietly looking into the same world as you.

Perhaps you notice her immediately. Perhaps you only find her after looking twice. And perhaps that is part of the story too.

Ways of Seeing is an invitation to slow down, look beyond what is immediately in front of you, and notice what else might be there.

Ways of Seeing is part of the Seasons series.
